I've been on various field hockey, soccer, swim, and tennis teams. Before derby, field hockey was my sporting favorite.
Favorite Derby Story:
Every scrimmage is awesome.
Derby Heroes:
Pippi Ripyourstockings. I saw her skating at my first derby bout (I was there as a spectator). She had an amazing tattoo and even more amazing skating style and prowess. I find now she is even cooler in person.
Favorite Derby Gear:
Haha, all of it. The main nonessentail piece that I wear that I will not skate without are my knee gaskets. When I fall my knee feels very little of the impact. I feel very safe wearing the kneepad/ gasket combo. I also prefer thigh high socks.
Other Hobbies:
Doing some form of homework or at work.
Favorite Meal & Drink:
My favorite meal is a turkish dish called manti. It is made up of ground beef dumplings (about the size of a small acorn) cooked and served in garlic yogurt. and topped with a drizzle of melted butter and crisped dough strips. Mmmmm. Favorite drink = tea, water, or vanilla-steamed milk.
Favorite Book:
Textbooks--they are so informative. I have not read for pleasure for a long time... though I did enjoy a series of dragon books by Anne McCaffrey, though they would count as childhood favorites.
Favorite Movie or TV Show:
Kill Bill (both of them) = favorite movies!!!! I also like the Scary Movie series. I <3 Huckabees and Donnie Darko are also realy good.
TV show:: 30 Rock
If you could be an animal, which one?:
A cat. They always seems to be sleeping and laying in really comfortable places. Maybe a local bird. It may be cliche, but flying would be great.
Favorite Derby Move:
The sheriff. It tells people to back off and is especially satisfying when delivered to an unsuspecting opponent.
Derby Name Story:
I like the name Loraine. It reminds me of the funny character on Mad TV.
Acid rain is awesome. It degrades everything including rock and is a subtle form of humanity's self-destruction cyclized into natural precipitation patterns. Not all water = life :p
I also wanted a name that sounded like a real name so rather than calling myself Acid Rain outright...
