The Shusher
Number: 59
Tagline: Shhhh...
Studious and timid as a child, she disdained those around her who made noise, and felt contempt for the people who were responsible for, but failed, to shush them up. Early on, she made it her personal mission to subdue the din. After being unable to completely silence the masses, she spent years building her skills, developing her technique, and refining her craft. Realizing that before she could quash the sound, she must first understand it; she sought out the most pulsating source: Disco Night at the local skating rink. While still despising the noise (it was disco, after all), she found freedom – and command - on skates. Leaving behind the studious and timid child, she found a place to call home: the local library. In a state of mad euphoria (a Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde moment), The Shusher arrived. Clad in pads, helmet, and hot pink wheels, The Shusher zooms through the library seeking out those disobeying the “Quiet in the Library” warnings. Rolling out of the stacks (carrying her personal copy of The Scarlet Letter,) The Shusher keeps vigil with her ever watchful eye. Looking for those breaking the rule of silence, The Shusher is ready to slap The Silver Letters “Shhhh…” on any and all offenders. Her finely honed skills and shrewd enforcement of this code have earned her a reputation for strong arming (and sharp elbowing) those around her. If you think she’s bad when there’s noise, just see where dog-earing gets you…
